

Sister Mary Deborah Honer, 73, died on April 3, 2010, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Wednesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Tuesday July 6, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Wednesday. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6. Arrangements are by the Shelley Funeral Chapel, Little Falls.
Barbara Honer was born on May 22, 1936, in Los Angeles, Calif. She was the oldest of 11 children born to Frances and the late Jake Honer of Dent, Minn. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on July 31, 1955. She made her first profession of vows on August 12, 1957, and final vows on August 12, 1961. She was a Franciscan Sister for 54 years.
Sister Deborah earned Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, Wis. Sister Deborah ministered as a social worker. She served in St. Paul, St. Cloud, Alexandria, Moorhead and Little Falls, Minn.; Fargo, N. Dak.; Chicago, Ill.; Lexington, Miss.; and Milwaukee, Wis.
Sister Deborah was preceded in death by her father Jake; brothers, Louis, Dale and Richard; brother-in-law Ronnie Harthun and sister-in-law Marilyn Honer. Survivors include her mother, Frances, and siblings: Gary (Rose), Evangeline Harthun, Kathleen Harthun, Timothy (Marlene), Patrick (Pam) and sister-in-law, Elaine all of Dent; Deborah (Jerry Geveden), Lexington, Ky.; Mark, Prole, Iowa many nieces and nephews and her Franciscan Community.
